June 2017 Collective Reading ☾

Happy June, everyone!  We're into the last couple weeks of spring before the Summer Solstice or Litha for those who celebrate.  I was called to do a Tarot reading for my readers, which definitely helps me practice.  If you feel that this reading resonates with you, please let me know!  If you have a different interpretation, tell me that, too!  As with all readings that you see or receive, only take what truly resonates with you and feel free to ignore the rest.  Your Soul knows what you need to hear and maybe that message just isn't for you at the moment or at all.

One of the things that I saw in this reading is that there are no Pentacles cards.  That just means that earthly, physical matters won't be the focus this month.  A couple of watery cards shows us that emotions will be important for us, while two swords cards show that matters of the mind will also be a focal point.  One wand card, in the career section, shows us that we will also use a bit of creativity!

ft. The Starchild Tarot Akashic, crystal point to direct energy, rose quartz for love, clear quartz for amplification, howlite for calm and patience, and selenite for feminine energy

ENERGY // VIBRATION
The general energy of June will focus on increasing our vibrations.  The image on this card invites us to do this with the use of crystals and being in nature.  Consider pairing your crystal vibrations with chakra healing.  Are there any areas that you've felt lacking in?

LOVE // THE STAR
The Star is a card of not just romantic love, but also spiritual love and unconditional love.  A star, much like the North Star in Ursa Major, is an illuminating and guiding or inspiring light in the dark.  Consider how you can guide others through your love this month.  How can you guide yourself through self-love this month?

HOME // KING OF CUPS
This is a card of balance, calm, and diplomacy.  To see this card next to the Star, a card that also has elements of water, invokes thoughts of feelings and emotions.  Perhaps you need to work on balancing your emotions at home.  The King in this card is doing so with ease, so it's likely that you will too.

CAREER // KNIGHT OF WANDS
This is a card of success!  You're feeling determined and confident, which will help you reach your goals at work or in your side hustle.  If you're thinking, "What goals," now might be a great time to make some and consider how you can further your success.  Don't rush, though!  Remember, this is a reading for June you have all month or even longer if you need!

SPIRIT // KNIGHT OF SWORDS REVERSED
When this card is reversed, it urges us to slow waaaaay down.  We're experiencing great energy and ideas, but we may be rushing through them, which makes them almost useless.  When you take the time to slow down and listen to and experience your surroundings, you're more likely to actually make use of what you're learning and actually get the true message.

MOOD // SEVEN OF SWORDS
The overall mood of the month suggests that you may be feeling isolated or choosing avoidance.  Though this is a card that often warns of deceit or untruth, I'm not called towards that interpretation.  When you look at the swords in the image, one of them is higher up and more forward than the others.  If you were that sword, what do the other swords represent?  Are you higher up because you are avoiding them?  Or is it because you're currently preferring to be alone?  Either way is fine.  You're entitled to feel however you need to and for however long you need to.

May Magickal Favorites

Happy Memorial day to those in the United States!  I can't believe May is pretty much over.  My spiritual journey quickly grew this month and may be evolving in ways that I never expected.

the Mystic Mondays tarot

T A R O T / / I supported two Tarot decks on Kickstarter: Mystic Mondays and the Mesquite Tarot.  Both decks are so unique!  I was actually drawn to the decks for the literal opposite reasons.  I love the simplicity and muted colors of the Mesquite Tarot and I love the layers of images and bright colors in the Mystic Mondays deck.  Isn't it crazy how you can be drawn to such different decks?!  The Mesquite Tarot deck can be backed until June 11th.  The Mystic Mondays deck can be backed until June 30th.  Support these amazing artists/fellow spiritualists!

Witch by Lisa Lister

B O O K S / / Did you read Witch by Lisa Lister?  I saw that a lot of the people I follow on Instagram did.  I wasn't sure what to expect when I ordered it and I didn't realize how angry it would make me.  Even if you don't feel comfortable with or believe in witchcraft, if you are a feminist, this book will definitely wake you up.  You can't deny that women have always been and still are persecuted just for being females, being independent, or for being connected to the world.

mala by Love, Light & Legacy

T O O L S / / Within a couple days of each other, I won a mala from Love, Light & Legacy and an awesome prize bundle from Forest and Crow that included a facial toner, intuition essential oils roller, and a smudging stick.  The mala and the intuition oil blend are amazing for really focusing in on different rituals like journaling, meditation, or reading Tarot cards.

Spiritual Space Inspiration

I've mentioned on my Instagram account that P and I will be renting a house soon.  I've pretty much shouted from the rooftop that I'm really excited about having my own room because I want to use it for my spiritual space.  90% of the time I'm pretty satisfied with just sitting on the couch or even on a floor pillow in our bedroom while I blog, pull Tarot cards, or fill out the pages of my Grimoire, but sometimes I have to deconstruct that space because it's in an area where our dog might destroy it.

I put together a quick mood board with various aspects that I want to include in my spiritual space.  The first thing I knew I wanted to have was plenty of candles.  I love the smell, soft glow, and warmth that they give off.  Crystals, a grid, and a shelf are definitely on my wish list, as well.  Right now my crystals are all just hanging out in a small jewelry dish.  It gets the job done, but it doesn't honor them how they should be honored.  To bring in more aspects of the world, I would love to have flowers.  I'm not sure if I'll go for fresh or fake because I'm not great at keeping flowers alive.  I want to combine the earthly elements with some space elements as well, so I'll probably look for ways to decorate using the moon and constellations.  The color swatches in the bottom left will hopefully be used to pull all of these elements together.  I will absolutely have my yoga mat and my floor pillow in there because duh.  I'm looking forward to also adding a table for an altar and one for where I can work on my spiritual practices.

What would you want in your spiritual space?  If you have a spiritual space right now, please let me know so I can check it out.

Four Online Tarot Resources I Use Every Day

There are three main ways of reading Tarot cards that I know of: by a guidebook, by intuition, or by a combination of both.  I'm still developing my intuition when it comes to reading my spreads, but learning the traditional Tarot card meanings or the meanings in my Little White Books (the specific guidebook that came with the decks) is really helping me not only understand the cards, but also how I feel about them.  While I feel like I can sometimes intuitively read cards or even entire decks, there are other cards, decks, or even spreads that require more research.  Use your intuition to know when you need to rely on a book or website or another resource to understand the message.  Seem kind of contradictory?  I promise it isn't.  It's a great way to strengthen your understanding!  Here are the websites that I use on a daily basis to read my cards:

The Tarot Guide.  This is the website I use most often.  What I love about this website is how easy it is to access the cards and how orderly it is.  It also feels like I'm learning from an old friend, although I'm not sure why.  When you click on the card that you're searching for, it gives you the general meaning, reversed meaning, and also specific interpretations for love and relationships, money and career, health, and spirituality.  Those specific interpretations are specified for both the upright and the reversed readings.  So you get 10 specific interpretations on one page!  It makes understanding my cards a LOT easier, especially in spreads that may target specific areas of life.

Biddy Tarot.  We all know about this one.  What's super amazing about this website is how many companion resources there are with it, free and paid, such as eBooks, webinars, or physical books.  What's pretty cool about this website is that it has the general meanings of the Major Arcana and Minor Arcana, information about the suits, and descriptions of the imagery on the traditional Wider-Raite Tarot deck.  This website also has possible interpretations for each card in the upright and reversed positions.  It doesn't divide them into specific areas like other websites do, but it's still a fantastic resource and a great starting point.

Aunty Flo. Another amazing website with so much information!  This website is a great resource for all kinds of spiritual practices.  What I love about Aunty Flo is that the Major Arcana main page has a list of quick keywords and quick messages in addition to the links to each card individually.  Once you click on the card, you can find four main sections: the general meaning, the meaning in love, the meaning in work and health, and the reversed meaning.  The pages for the four suits offer general descriptions of the suit and quick messages from each card, including the court cards.

Learn Tarot.  This is another classic website and it's one that everyone should know about!  Learn Tarot has free lessons that teach you all about Tarot from the beginning.  It has real-life examples and exercises that can help you learn in a very interactive way.  In addition to the courses and lessons, there are individual pages for each card.  These pages are some of my favorites for general readings because they show the main keywords, actions or specifics for those keywords, potential pairs that may reinforce or challenge each other, and the general message of the card.

You can use any of these four websites and get invaluable information about the Tarot cards.  Combine this information with your intuition and your deck's guidebook, and you will have an amazingly complete message!  Do you use any of these websites?  Are there any others that I should know about?  Let me know about your experiences and your favorites in the comments below!

Why I Started Reading Tarot

As of now, I only read Tarot cards for myself.  I started pulling daily cards with, an occasional larger spread, in the beginning of April 2017.  If I'm being honest, the number 1 reason that I was drawn to Tarot was because I lost passion in other parts of my life.  I had a personal blog that I no longer connected with, I felt like I was less than the people on my social media feeds, and I had no idea what I believed in.

The second biggest reason was that I was looking to develop my personal, spiritual beliefs.  Spiritual in this sense means my metaphysical understanding of life and the world we live in.  Tarot, in particular, enticed me because it is all about intuition, interpretation, and symbolism.  When you pull a card or lie out a spread, you are the individual who needs to figure out what it means for you.  You may be following suggestions from your little white book, but you're also putting your own understanding and experience in your interpretation.

Tarot naturally fit into what I already practice and believe.  Keep in mind that almost all of these practices, like using healing crystals and following the lunar phases, are new, but they all seem to fit together like a puzzle in my life.  My top belief, the one that I have carried throughout life, is that everything in life is connected.  The symbols of traditional Tarot decks borrow imagery from the archetypes we find in the collective consciousness of humanity, which is one of the many ways that people are all connected to each other, other beings, and our surroundings.

Has anything changed in the past month?  Yes, quite a bit has.  I created a new Instagram account and a new blog, both dedicated to my spiritual journey.  Through these accounts, especially my Instagram account, I've connected to several amazing people and I've felt so inspired by the community of spiritualists that I've found through hashtags like #witchyvibes or #taroteverydamnday.  I've learned more about moon phases, the Wheel of the Year, and rituals.  I've slept better, I've had more energy, and I've felt more productive.  I've felt more at peace with myself, yet more determined and motivated.  I've felt more positive and less self-conscious.  There are still plenty of things that I am struggling with, but I feel that I am constantly growing and that's a pretty good start.

The Month Ahead Tarot Spread

I never thought I would enjoy or feel creative enough to create Tarot spreads.  When I compared my ideas to the layouts on Pinterest, I felt discouraged and then I felt silly because this spiritual community is all about self-love and whatever the hell the opposite of comparison is.  Some of the layouts are very simple, some are more in-depth.  Some are great for general readings at any time of the year, while others may draw inspiration from the Sabbats.  Sometimes I want my deck to help me answer questions, but other times I just want some simple guidance.

This is a layout for when I just want simple guidance.  I could easily adapt this spread to ask more specific questions if I need more focused advice, but this is a good framework to use.  This is also a layout that could be used on the New Moon, if you consider the New Moon to be the first of the month.

There are two ways that I would recommend using this Tarot spread.  The first is as a vision board!  I found this idea on Wild Moon Woman's Instagram one day and I loved it.  The second is as a typical guidance spread.  One of my favorite things to do, no matter what I'm using my spread for, is use more than one card for each section.  Using more than one deck is always a great idea, too.

If you use this spread, let me know what you think and what cards you pull!

Oracle Deck Wish List (part 1)

None of these images are my own. They belong to the wonderful creators of these decks, but I wanted you to see the beautiful artwork to see if any of them are calling you. This post is not sponsored by anyone. I just really love Oracle decks!

One of the coolest things about reading Tarot and Oracle cards is how many options there are.  You can stick to a classic Rider-Waite deck or experiment with a Spirit Speak deck.  There is no right or wrong and there is no end to the beautiful variations.  Another amazing thing about reading Tarot?  The oracle decks.  I didn't know what they were until I started reading Tarot and I was immediately drawn to them.  Who couldn't use the extra guidance?  Or even a little change in scenery.  I put together a list of 5 oracle decks that I have fallen in love with.  Don't worry, there will be a second part to this post because I found so many that I loved!

Every time I see these cards pop up in a reading, I fall in love with the watercolor artwork over and over again.  I love the simplicity of these cards because they beg you to use intuition to really uncover their meanings.  There are 60 of these stunning cards and they were completely designed by the artist, Jen Berlingo.

Okay, yes this is another watercolor oracle, BUT I can't help it!  Look at the beautiful designs on these cards!  These cards really invoke feelings of magick and ritual, which is why they appeal to me.   This is the kind of artwork that I could stare at for days on end and never grow tired of.

I AFFIRM | $23.34
You can't look on social media without seeing affirmations, mantras, or some form of self-love.  And for good reason.  I think these cards would make a beautiful addition to any morning routine or daily pull.  Every time I look at these pictures, I just melt inside.  Seriously, they just make me feel so loved.
My first Tarot deck was The Wild Unknown Tarot deck and I think this deck would perfectly complement it.  Not only that, but it would be an amazing addition to any Tarot spread.  The artwork is gorgeous, detailed, and simply wild.  It makes me feel connected to nature and it makes me want to learn more about the animals around us.

One day I'll write more about why I started reading Tarot, but for now, I can say that one thing led to another, starting with an interest in how the lunar cycle affects people.  When I first started looking at Instagram pictures of Tarot and oracle decks, I was immediately drawn to this one because it was so unique in design and I connected to the lunar images.  This is the deck that I always want when I realize a new or full moon is approaching.

Well, there are some of the oracle decks that are on my radar right now.  I feel like I barely made a dent in the list of all of the ones that I love, but I had to share them with y'all!  I think these are some pretty common decks that I see, but I feel like there are so many that I sometimes need to be reminded about which ones I've fallen for.  Hopefully, some of these decks have inspired you!  Tell me, what oracle decks are on your wish list or are your favorites?
