The Week Ahead Spread + My Personal Reading

LOOK!  I made a Tarot and/or Oracle spread for the week ahead.  This is the first one that I created and there may be something similar already out there, but I just designed what I was called to.  I used the Sacred Soul-Searching deck to create this image, but I actually used both the Sacred Soul-Searching oracle deck and the Wild Unknown Tarot deck.  I'll show you my first personal reading using this layout in a bit, but first I just wanted to offer a quick explanation of the spread.

The bottom row is pretty self-explanatory: each card represents the general message for the days of the week.  I still plan on pulling a daily card for each day because that's my favorite part of my morning routine.  I'm hoping that the combination of the weekly and daily pulls will offer more insight into my day!  The top row includes the overview of the week, a card that tells you what you'll do with ease that week, a card that tells you what you'll need to work on that week, and the overall outcome of the week or what you'll gain from the week.

My Weekly Spread: April 24-April 30

Before I even go into the days of the week, I wanted to point out that 5 of my 7 cards are of the Swords suit.  The Wild Unknown guidebook tells me that this reading is pointing towards distress and turmoil.  Honestly, I didn't get that vibe from my reading.  I didn't get a great vibe either, but it was intense.

Monday, Ace of Swords: The Ace of Swords, in general, represents new beginnings and change.  Y'all, I'm really hoping that this will bring good news about a house.  We are looking for a rental and I would love to have something set up.  Apparently, this card also overpowers some of the negative aspects of the others.

Tuesday, Son of Swords: The Son of Swords is the Knight in this deck.  Look at the determination and focus in that card.  That's what the card represents to me.  The Knight of Swords, when representing the self, tells you to expect the unexpected.  Ugh, I'll try.

Wednesday, Reversed Two of Swords: Since the Two of Swords typically represents blocked intellect or a stalemate, I'm interpreting its reversed meaning to mean that I will have a particularly clear mind on Wednesday.  That's good news since I have a final exam that day!  Interestingly, I keep all of my cards upright and turn them over in the same manner.  I don't know how this happened, so I'm taking it!

Thursday, Mother of Swords: This card represents perspective and intuition.  She's calling me towards following my own and making sure I look at the big picture.  She also shows resilience when placed next to traditionally negative cards.

Friday, Seven of Swords: Secrecy and self-interest are the keywords for this card in the Wild Unknown guidebook.  I actually take this as a warning that if I'm not careful, I'll put my own needs above others.  The fox looks so isolated and sleepy, as well as agitated.  That tends to describe me after a long week.

Saturday, Hanged Man: I don't know why, but I hate pulling this card.  I'm already an indecisive person and I'm not very patient.  Probably why this card comes up every now and then.  This may be a reminder that not everything is under my control.  Maybe it doesn't fit my timeline.  I don't know.

Sunday, Three of Cups: The message of this card is always welcome.  This is a card that represents friendship and creation.  After seeing a friend this weekend, I'll be reveling in my friendships.

Overview, The Seed: What a pleasant overview for this week.  I was most called to "Unlimited potential" in the message.  I'm ready to discover and use my potential!

"It's all Good," Power: According to this card, I hold the power of the universe in front of me.  I should use this power and connection to my advantage in everything I do this week.

"Work on it," Unexpected Magic: I'm not always a fan of not knowing details or having a plan.  Clearly, this is something I need to work on.

Outcome, Vibration: I love this outcome.  Higher vibrations and higher energy.  I think I should choose a mantra or a few to repeat this week so I can increase these positive vibes.

Spring Cleaning Tarot Reading

I do a daily pull every morning.  Sometimes I ask for a message, sometimes for advice.  Sometimes I ask about the energy of the day and guidance for tackling it head on.  A couple times a week, I like to do larger spreads.  One of my favorites is the three card balanced spread.  I decided to do the spring cleaning tarot spread inspired by Little Red Tarot.  She has some of the most amazing spreads and guidance.  Highly recommend checking her out.  Here's the image from her post that shows you the spread layout:
Cards 1 and 2 represent who you are at the time of reading.  3 and 4 show suggestions for dealing with "clutter."  5, 6, and 7 are referred to as redecoration - new directions that you can take.  And 8 is what you should just get rid of.

For my personal reading, I used the Wild Unknown Tarot deck (2nd edition) and the Sacred Soul-Searching Oracle deck.  I wasn't sure if these decks would get along well, but so far, so good.  Is it weird to personify them like that?  Getting along?  Let me try again: I wasn't sure if their energy would clash or complement each other.

1, 2 - Who I am right now

The Three of Cups tells me that I am someone who is surrounded by good, true friendship.  This is not something I used to value because of depression and isolation, but it's something I've been craving more as I've felt more like myself.  This is such a warm card, both in color and in spirit.  I'm so glad to see this card in my reading!
The Self Care card is so appropriate because this has been one of my focuses for months, but I'm finally getting a grip on it.  Whether it's a nap when I'm exhausted, a cup of tea on the porch at night, or a nightly yoga session followed by crystal healing, I am working on taking care of myself.

3, 4 - How I should tackle this clutter

Okay, so the Son of Swords typically represents a person, but intuition tells me that this means I should be driven and focused.  Seriously, look at his body language and facial expressions.  Nothing is going to get in his way.  The Wild Unknown guidebook also states that this is usually a person who has dark skin and hair.  This is pretty relative to me because I'm pretty fair, but I'm thinking it may have something to do with relying on my boyfriend, who is a pretty tan individual with dark hair and eyes.
And another card that I was super excited to see: Daily Practise.  Habits and rituals don't just form overnight and they don't work on their own.  I definitely need to keep this up and do things on a small, daily level.

5, 6, 7 - New ideas, redecoration

This is my favorite section of this spread because it's so positive and constructive.  I pulled the Nine of Cups, Wondering and Wandering, and Temperance.  The Nine of Cups tells me that my goals and wishes will be fulfilled and all I need to do is relax and enjoy this time.  I think this is definitely hinting towards manifestation since I've been a little curious about how that works.  Maybe now is the time to learn more about it and see what good may come from it.  This card could also be reminding me to enjoy what I have or what I am experiencing, as it's such a serene scene.
Wondering and Wandering was a very welcome card, as well!  I have been making small efforts to go outside more, even if it's just to drink a cup of coffee on my porch.  I've never been one to just go for a hike or spend an afternoon by the beach, but I have been slowly but surely reconnecting with nature.
Temperance is a card that I'm not very familiar with, but this is a great opportunity to learn more about it.  Quick reading tells me that this is a card that represents the need for balance, listening to intuition, and being led be spirit guides or signs.  I took a look at the symbolism of herons, too, and there's a lot!  From domesticity to being present to grace to partnership, it really does represent a need for balance in all areas.  The heron is a bird that is often found near water, so seeing this bird on a card that is typically in the element of Fire shows a balance between the elements and what they represent.

8 - What I need to get rid of

The Two of Pentacles represents the need for balance and change, but I don't see any reason why I would need to get rid of such inevitable parts of life.  The message I'm receiving from this card, at least right now, is to get rid of stress that usually accompanies changes.  This card actually reinforces what Temperance is telling me and reminds me that maintaining balance may be stressful, but it does not need to be.

There's my first spring cleaning spread!  I was very pleased with how positive and straightforward this reading was.  Like I said before, these decks get along really well and I'm so glad!  Using more than one deck in a reading feels so natural because it's kind of like consulting with more than one professional or chatting with several friends.
